About me

My name is Jose. I was born in Cuba, and I've been living in the United States since 2021. I speak two languages: Spanish, my native language, and English almost like an American. I've liked programming since I came across the internet, and I'm planning to become a memorable software engineer.

Experience

I've been creating personal projects since 2018. Recently, I developed Fresh Support, a ticketing system with frontend and backend where I used JavaScript, React, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, and Python.

I started out programming using Java in the Notepad Windows app. For the most part, I coded terminal programs, but in the end, I built a Calculator and an inventory management app, both with a UI.

At university, we were taught C++. With that language, I practiced a lot of programming logic and became great at it. I also ended up creating an inventory management app as a final project for the semester (this was before creating a UI using Java). To store the information like stock, product names, flags (first time opening the app, etc.), I used a .txt file.

Finally, I ended up studying web development. Before studying this technologies I had a lot of preconceptions like frontend is not really programming, but now I love it. I chose to specialize in web development because I firmly believe that the web is the present and the future.

Work Philosophy

Yes, I'm one of those people who believes that hard work will get you the farthest. I used to believe talent was enough, but now I see it clearer. Everything I know about programming has come to me after an immense amount of hours. The only thing left to do is to keep grinding.
